But it does seem like I'm always making these posts--if by "always" I mean at the end of my frequent absences from posting.  I've had a busy summer, which I have been planning on posting about but haven't got around to, and guess what?  I still haven't.

Nope, I come here today with a mere thought.

Isn't it a nice surprise, when you put in a CD you bought years ago, listened to once, and thought you didn't like, only to find out that you do?

I think it's because I bought it while out with my mother-in-law, who insisted that I play it in the car despite my frequent assurances that she would not like it (she didn't), only to have my husband ask me to turn it off because he didn't like it either.

I told them.  I did.

At least now I know my $$ spent way back in 2006 weren't wasted.

HAI THERE, STRANGER.

So, I'm enjoying thinking about how the situations we're in color our perception of music (or anything, really) more than maybe we acknowledge at the time, and then I realize I just want to get to the heart of the matter: Whatchya listenin' to?

I love that. I have found that of the cds that become "so epic that I eventually wore them out" - I began by not really being fond of them on the first listen. This goes for: The Police and The Smashing Pumpkins, both.

Then, I found the principle often applies to people and couldn't have been more shocked. This goes for: my student teaching partner and my husband, both.

It's kind of humbling and delightful at the same time! What's the cd?

The CD is Light Grenades by Incubus, and it was definitely delightful, as I absolutely adore their earlier CDs (which I also own) and was initially very disappointed that I didn't like this one one. So glad to see this isn't the case and I'm totally going to buy their newest one now, haha.
