good__evil , and their October Monster Madness! Each day of the month belongs to a different monster, and authors post their drabbles on the designated day. I've managed one for each day so far. These are from October 6th to 10th, and represent zombie, witch, gremlin, pixie, and goblin.

Willow had asked if she’d stop by the Bronze after patrol.

Buffy had answered, “Yep. It’s been dead quiet lately, you know, without so much the dead part?”

Famous last words. There she stood, surrounded by the supremely ugly, incredibly smelly, and most certainly dead practically falling over themselves trying to eat her brains.

Thwack. Ugh, beheadings were so messy. All right, only eight more to go...

Later, Buffy limped over to Xander and Willow’s table, holding her broken shoe, her hair in tangles, mud and other things all over her face.

“Buffy?”

“What happened?”

Buffy scowled. “Zombies are evil.”

“I’m a wicked witch!”

The redheaded child jumped out from behind the door, glittery hat askew and magic wand waving wildly.

Willow smiled. “You sure are! All ready for some candy-getting?”

The child nodded, her coppery curls bouncing. “Uh huh. But first, a spell!”

Willow grinned and nodded encouragingly.

The little girl waved her wand and chanted some nonsense words that raised the hairs on the back of Willow’s neck. And with a flick of her wrist, she tapped her own head with the wand and vanished.

Willow stared at the empty space where her daughter was not. “Oh, crap!”

They were everywhere. Pointy-toothed, bat-eared little demons, hanging from light fixtures, peeking from under beds, even scratching at her with sharp little claws from inside air vents.

This was just like that nightmare she used to have after watching that movie when she was little, only so much worse...

There were more behind the curtain and another in the hutch. She saw their beady eyes looking at her hungrily.

They were getting braver. This coat hanger wouldn’t hold them off for long.

Maybe it was time she accepted that there were reasons why Buffy didn’t like her staying home alone.

It was glittery, kind of blue, with fine, sparkly wings.

“Oh, look at that!” Buffy said, walking toward the tree where the little creature sat.

It looked at her with big, solid eyes, cocking its head to the side.

“Love, maybe—”

“Hey, slayer here.” Buffy turned to raise her finger at Spike. “I think I’m capable of—ow! Oh my God, ow!”

The cute creature was growling loudly and had its very sharp mouthful of teeth buried in her thumb. It was chewing.

Spike smirked. “You wouldn’t know evil if it bit you on the—”

“Shut up, Spike!”

One minute, he was a boy and out trick-or-treating wearing the best costume ever. Now, he was much better. He was a goblin! Green and sneaky and having so much fun.

The best thing about being a goblin was chasing the princesses. There were lots of princesses. He ran, chased, and bit them hard! Oh, this was fun! Especially when they screamed.

Princesses did a lot of that.

And speaking of...there was another one!

He ran and bit and she screamed, and then he was dizzy and suddenly, he was a boy again.

Oh, no! This princess was his sister.
