OK, so you posted this a while ago, but my New Year's resolution was to stop lurking, and though I'm a quiet person IRL, I become garrulous at the keyboard, so here goes:

aerintine said: "things could so easily have gone this way." Yes, they could have, and yet this plot twist somehow never occurred to me--or anyone else, apparently. Gotta love your imagination: this ficlet slips into the cracks in the canon, and yet isn't canon at all. Twisted. I love it.

On the invite thing: Why couldn't Angelus have drained Jenny to unconsciousness, then taken her to Giles' apartment to finish the job in Giles' bed? Thinking up such a scheme is the sort of thing he *could* do, and the extra twist of using Giles' bed would appeal to him. The timing is a thornier problem, but I've already over-thought this!

One last comment: It amazes me that even in such a short piece, action revealed character. For Jenny, waiting for Giles to come and the lack of malice in her yes both reveal what a loving person she was. Giles' actions, on the other hand, were chilling, a preview of his later ruthlessness (kill Dawn, conspire with Robin, etc). Tears, sure, but no hesitation.

Thanks for posting this fic.
